Inovonics, Inc. is founded in Campbell, CA by Jim Wood and Mark Drake: R&D Begins.
Inovonics’ first products were drop-in, replacement tape recorder electronics assemblies for the Ampex reel-to-reel tape recorders and similar machines.
Inovonics introduces its first broadcast audio processing product, the 220 "Audio Level Optimizer".

2020 was strange and difficult for everyone. From COVID closures, restrictions and setbacks to fire and flood evacuations, 2020 was a year like no other. We look forward to seeing everyone at shows around the world again, starting in 2021!
We missed seeing everyone at shows again in 2021, but Inovonics was hard at work innovating and bringing the 551 HD Mod Monitor to market.
In 2022, we were back (mostly) live at real shows with (some) real people...and Inovonics brought another award winning idea to life with the 552 HD Mod Monitor!
50 years after Jim Wood started Inovonics, he and his company are still innovating and making radio better for thousands of Inovonics users around the globe.
At age 80, and with 50 years of Inovonics employment under his belt, Jim Wood has made the decision to formally retire from the firm. Ben Barber became the new owner of Inovonics, Inc. on August 1, 2022.
